New Lexus ES launches in the UK

By Adele Barry

Luxury car maker Lexus has launched its GS replacement, the Lexus ES, with prices starting from £35,150.

The new model, which is a contender for the BMW 5-series and Mercedes E-class, is fitted with a new 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine.

Lexus claims the all-new chassis on the ES allows for a more dynamic exterior design and even better driving performance, with the luxury saloon being billed as more spacious, quieter and safer than before.

Comfort hasn’t been compromised in the cabin as it took designers three years to produce the ideal seats for the ES, working through numerous prototypes before developing the perfect seat.

There are three trim levels, the ES, F-Sport and Takumi all fitted with the Lexus Safety System+ which includes autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.

The new model is longer (+65mm), lower (-5mm) and wider (+45mm) than its predecessor, producing 100g/km of CO2. Average fuel consumption, using new WLTP figures, comes in at 52.9-59.3mpg.

The on-the-road prices for the new ES are:

Lexus ES £35,150

Lexus ES F Sport £38,150

Lexus ES Takumi £45,650

The ES can be specified with a range of option packs:

Premium Pack (for ES) £3,500

Tech and Safety Pack (for F Sport) £700

Takumi Pack (for F Sport) £4,000
