Motorsport calendar - which events do you fancy this year?

With world cup fever in full swing it’s easy to become distracted from some of the other fantastic sporting events happening this summer.

Motorsport is a fantastic example and as avid car fans ourselves, we look at some of the must-attend events taking place during the rest of the year.

First up this month it’s the pinnacle of events with the Formula 1 Rolex British Grand Prix at Silverstone, July 5-8. It promises to be a weekend of exhilarating racing at one of the world’s greatest sporting events.

July 20-22 it’s back to Silverstone with the Silverstone Classic. An action-packed weekend filled with motor racing, live music, aerial displays, live demonstrations and lots more.

It’s CarFest North at the Bolesworth Estate in Cheshire, July 27-29. CarFest presents a unique mix of music, cars and fun. As the brainchild of Chris Evans, it’s a weekend of entertainment for all the family.

If supercars are more your thing then The Supercar Weekend at Beaulieu in Hampshire on August 4-5 is a must-attend event. See displays of prestigious supercars and hear their distinctive engine notes as they unleash their horsepower on the demonstration run. The Supercar Weekend is a must for all supercar enthusiasts, providing an opportunity to get almost close enough to touch these impressive motors.

CarFest South returns to Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire on August 24 -26 for another round of entertainment. Billed to be as equally as exciting as its Northern cousin, it promises to be another fun-filled weekend for all the family.

Goodwood Revival is planned for 7-9 September. A three-day festival celebrating the halcyon days of motor racing with the accompanying glamour of the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s.

If you’re more at home in a Land Rover than a racing car then the Land Rover Owners (LRO) show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough will be up your street. Billed as the biggest and best Land Rover show it will be a weekend surrounded by 100s of Land Rovers, 1000s of land Rover parts and a weekend full of entertainment.

There’s still usually plenty of sunshine in September so The Big Welsh Show on September 16 is sure to be a hit and for the second year running, it will be held at Chepstow Racecourse in Monmouthshire. There’s something for everyone – classic cars, crafts, food and music, and activities for the little ones.

The Wales Rally is being held three-weeks earlier this year from October 4-7. Set at various stages across Wales, many of the classic forest tests around Aberystwyth will now feature as part of a jumbo 'Super Saturday' bill in mid-Wales. The show moves back to north Wales on the Sunday with a new street stage around the Great Orme and down into Llandudno for an exciting finish along the seafront.

If you fancy a European trip, then this year the world’s motor manufacturers will show case the latest models at the Paris Motor show. The Frankfurt and Paris shows alternate every year and this year Paris will host the event which is expected to attract more than a million visitors making it the second largest motor show after the Geneva motor show. The event will take place between October 4-14.

What better way to round off the year than with the Classic Motor show at the NEC in Birmingham November 9-11. Join classic car enthusiasts and view more than 2500 iconic classics cars and motorbikes. There will also be the UK’s biggest indoor autojumble as well as 650 exhibitors and traders.
