iCAUR V25: Everything We Know About the New SUV

iCAUR, a brand owned by Chinese automotive giant Chery Group, has revealed the V25, a chunky new SUV that takes inspiration from familiar off-roaders, including the Land Rover Defender and Jeep Wrangler. The brand sits alongside other Chery Group names, including Jaecoo and Omoda.

Sitting between the V23 and V27 in the iCaur line-up, the V25 has a boxy design that gives it a rugged, traditional 4x4 look. Its upright silhouette, squared-off styling and rear-end design have drawn comparisons with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, while other elements bring to mind the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Whether the V25 will make it to the UK remains unclear. We already know that the iCaur V27 is heading to the UK, with the brand itself expected to launch here in 2027. However, there has been no confirmation that the V25 will follow, although its positioning in the range makes it one to watch.

What is the iCAUR V25 like inside?

Inside, the V25 continues the chunky styling theme, with a dashboard design that wouldn't look out of place in a modern Land Rover.

One welcome feature is the inclusion of physical buttons for the climate control and fan speeds. With many new cars moving these functions onto the central touchscreen, traditional controls could be a practical addition for drivers.

That said, the V25 still features a large central touchscreen and a digital instrument display, combining a more traditional SUV feel with modern technology.

Electric and range-extender powertrains

Details about the V25 remain limited, but the SUV is expected to be available with both fully electric and range-extender plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The electric version is set to use an 80kWh battery, with a choice of rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The rear-wheel-drive model is expected to produce 248bhp, while the all-wheel-drive version could deliver 449bhp.

Claimed driving ranges stand at up to 276 miles for the rear-wheel-drive model and 248 miles for the all-wheel-drive version. However, these figures are based on the more generous NEDC testing cycle rather than the stricter WLTP standard used for vehicles sold in the UK, so real-world range expectations may differ.

For those looking for longer-distance capability, the range-extender version pairs a combustion engine with an electric powertrain and a battery of up to 34kWh. iCaur claims a total driving range of more than 500 miles, making it a potentially appealing option for drivers who want electric driving without relying entirely on charging infrastructure.

The range-extender system is similar in principle to the setup expected in the V27, which combines a petrol engine with electric motors to deliver an impressive 449bhp.

Will the iCaur V25 come to the UK?

At around 4.7 metres long, the V25 looks set to offer a sizeable SUV with distinctive styling and a choice of electrified powertrains.

For now, UK availability remains unconfirmed. With iCaur preparing to enter the UK market in 2027, the V25 could be an interesting addition to the growing choice of Chinese SUVs, particularly for drivers drawn to rugged styling without necessarily wanting a traditional off-roader.

We'll have to wait for further details to find out whether this boxy SUV will make its way to British roads.

With the V27 expected to arrive in the UK in early 2027, it'll be interesting to see what else we learn about iCAUR over the coming months, particularly when it comes to UK pricing, specifications and which models will make it over here.

As more details emerge, we'll get a better idea of what iCAUR has to offer and how its SUVs will compare with some of the more established names in the market.
