Over the past few years, we've definitely seen a lot of new car brands popping up, and it can be hard to keep up with who's who! iCAUR is another name to add to the list, but it's one worth getting to know, as it won't be long before we start seeing its cars on UK roads.
iCAUR sits under Chery Holding Group, the Chinese automotive giant that's already making a name for itself in the UK with brands such as Jaecoo, Omoda and Lepas. Now, it's looking to expand its reach with iCAUR, a brand focused on SUVs with a rugged, off-road look.
Targeting a new generation of drivers, iCAUR combines bold styling with modern technology and electrified powertrains.
Describing itself on its website, iCAUR says it “blends bold designs, smart technology, and strong driving performance to create vehicles that reflect the lifestyles of young and young at heart.”
The brand is known as iCar in China, but uses the name iCAUR internationally. Why the change? Apple holds the rights to the iCar name outside China, so Chery had to come up with a different name for the rest of the world. Even the name of a car brand isn't always straightforward!
Although it might be a new name to many UK drivers, iCAUR has already started making a bit of noise with its latest models. With styling that draws comparisons to everything from the Land Rover Defender to the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, it's certainly not going for a subtle look.
What Cars Does iCAUR Make?
The current line-up includes the V27, V25, V23 and 03, with each model bringing its own take on the brand's boxy SUV styling.
The V25 is the latest model to be introduced, sitting between the smaller V23 and the larger V27. It's already drawing comparisons to a smaller, more affordable Defender, thanks to its chunky design and boxy styling.
However, the first model we're expecting to see arrive in the UK is the V27, with sales expected to begin in early 2027.
iCAUR V27: The First Model Coming to the UK
The V27 is set to be iCAUR's first model on sale in the UK, and it's not hard to see where some of the design inspiration comes from.
With its boxy shape, upright stance and practical-looking design, the SUV has similarities to the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser. It certainly has the rugged look you'd expect from an SUV designed with off-roading in mind.
Under the bonnet, the V27 uses a 449PS range-extender powertrain, combining electric driving with a petrol engine that helps extend its range. This gives it a different approach to electrification compared with a fully electric SUV.
The five-seat SUV combines off-road capability with electrified performance, offering something a little different from the usual family SUV.
As for pricing, there's still plenty we don't know about the V27 or the other models planned for international markets. However, with the V27 expected to sit towards the more premium end of the iCAUR line-up, we'll have to wait and see how it compares with its rivals when UK prices are announced.
With its arrival expected in early 2027, we shouldn't have too long to wait to find out more.
What About the iCAUR V25?
The V25 sits between the V23 and V27, bringing the same chunky styling in a slightly different package.
It's another example of iCAUR's approach to SUV design, with a rugged appearance that has already drawn comparisons to some familiar off-road models.
Whether the V25 will also make its way to the UK remains to be seen, but with the V27 already lined up for a UK arrival, it's a brand worth keeping an eye on.
iCAUR might not be a name you're familiar with just yet, but with its range of bold-looking SUVs and plans to enter the UK market, that could soon change.
There's still plenty we don't know about iCAUR, from UK pricing to the full specs of its models. With the V27 expected to arrive in early 2027, it'll be interesting to see how it shapes up once we know more about what it has to offer.
